The Skin Care Services We Offer
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of the top cosmetic procedures in the United States. In fact, it only ranks second to wrinkle-relaxing injections. This is an appealing procedure to anyone with excessive hair, anyone looking for an alternative to shaving or waxing, and anyone that just wants to be hair-free.
During this procedure, hair is destroyed by a highly concentrated laser beam light. The laser beam penetrates deep within the hair follicle. The hair follicle’s pigment absorbs the light, while the inner hair follicle is destroyed, which results in permanent results.
Multiple hair follicles can be treated simultaneously and each laser pulse takes just seconds. The length of time it takes to perform this procedure depends upon the area of hair treated. Smaller areas can be completed fairly quickly while larger areas take longer.
Laser hair removal can be used to remove hair from the face, arms, underarms, legs, bikini line, back, and other areas. Prior to treatment, it is recommended to reduce any plucking, shaving, waxing, or electrolysis for as much as 6 weeks.
During treatment, hair is trimmed and the laser equipment utilized is then adjusted to meet the unique needs of your skin color, the location of the area treated, the color of the hair, and the thickness of the hair. Following treatment, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure for up to 6 weeks.
Laser skin resurfacing is a process involving the removal of skin layers with extreme precision and pulsating beams of light. Once these layers of skin are removed, new skin cells begin to form. The end-result is new tightened skin. This is an out-patient procedure commonly performed to help individuals reduce signs of aging, pigmentation issues and acne scars.
Ideal candidates have realistic expectations and may have issues such as lines and wrinkles, blotchy skin, scarring, acne, or acne scars. Skin resurfacing can be performed along with other cosmetic procedures on the same day. Prior to the procedure, you are advised not to smoke for up to 2 weeks and you may be asked to avoid aspirin, vitamin E, or ibuprofen.
These medications can lead to clotting and smoking will only extend the time it takes for your skin to heal. Additionally, you may be prescribed an antibiotic prior to the procedure to avoid bacterial infections.
During the procedure, areas treated are numbed. You may be numbed with a local anesthetic or you may be sedated. It depends upon the area treated. The length of time again will vary depending upon the area treated.
Following laser skin resurfacing, the treated area is bandaged. You will be required to keep the treated area cleaned 4-5 times per day following the first 24 hours. You’ll also have to apply ointment to the area to prevent scabbing. It is completely normal to swell following the procedure.
Skin Pigmentation Removal
When you’ve tried everything to even out your skin tone and remove dark spots to no avail, laser treatment may be a viable option. Laser treatment is not only used to treat dark spots, but it’s also used to treat freckles and pigmented lesions.
It’s important to recognize that this is a problem affecting men and women of all skin tones and skin types. Hyperpigmentation issues occur when the skin overproduces melanin. But thanks to Intense Pulse Light (IPL), there is hope. Utilizing a fine beam of light, dark patches are targeted.
Areas treated eventually scab over, fall off, and reveal a newly formed layer of skin. Results of this procedure are long-lasting. You may require multiple treatments to achieve optimum results. In addition to laser treatment, you will be advised to maintain a healthy skin-care routine and to protect your skin from the sun.
You can generally expect to resolve 60-80% of the issue with one treatment. However, you may need an additional treatment or two to achieve optimum results. Furthermore, some spots may not remove completely but will be reduced in appearance.

When treating “red skin” vascular lasers can be used to treat anything from facial redness and scars to stretch marks and reddish birthmarks. When skin has a redness appearance, this could be caused by sun damage and flushing. The good news is that skin redness can be reduced or eliminated through the use of laser treatment.
Treatment starts with your initial consultation. During your consultation, you’ll discuss your unique needs with the professional staff and your skin will be assessed and examined. Depending upon your personal preferences and needs, we may recommend skin care products to reduce signs of redness or we may recommend skin care products in combination with laser treatment.
Mountain West Aesthetics uses Q-switched Nd:YAG for laser tattoo removal, which is the most frequently used technology that has the most effective results. During treatment, pulses of light from the laser are directed onto the tattoo, breaking up the tattoo pigment. Over the next several weeks the body’s macrophages remove the treated pigmented areas. Dramatic results and clearance without scarring can be achieved with this treatment from an experienced provider. During your consultation, your expert will discuss how many treatments will be needed for your tattoo.
